Seems like every review I read for this was someone that got it free from Ankers. I paid for mine and have no association with Ankers at all besides this purchase. After having it for three days now, here are my specs and the pros and cons of this 5200mAh extended battery for the Galaxy S4.

Phone specs:

AnTuTu Benchmark: 24773

Pros: Battery lasts twice as long as the stock battery. This battery lasted me over 10 hours of continuous use of never turning off the display. About two of those hours were phone calls, about three hours of music and about 7 hours of surfing the internet. The stock battery would give me about 4-5 hours of continuous use. The stock backing was a little too square and it never fit my hand right. The Ankers backing made the S4 easier to hold.
Cons: The backing although making the phone easier to hold, is cheap. It is already showing wear on the upper right hand corner where most pry it off using their fingernail. Mine is now a little more open than it was before, but it did not crack.
Summery: All in all, I would buy it again. Fast shipping and the battery is awesome. The back cover worries me, but we will see if it breaks one day.

Quality components, nice fit. Compatible with Hyperion extended battery cover

I've now had the battery for a week and I couldn't be happier. The battery lasts forever! Admittedly, I haven't had a chance to heavily use the phone, but it has now been on battery power for more than 3 days 9 hours with 35% battery remaining. I went straight to this extended battery when receiving my Galaxy S4 so I can't compare with and without the battery. However, my experience with the original Droid Razr was frustrating because the phone would often run out of power before the end of the day. My goal with this battery was to make sure that I did not have to worry about getting through the day before running out of power. And I am confident that won't happen even with extremely heavy use.

The reason I purchased this extended battery instead of the Hyperion extended battery is that the percentage of 4 and 5 star reviews for Anker battery was much better than for the Hyperion battery (for the previous generation Samsung S3).

The battery fit easily in place. And the cover snapped on perfectly. It looks very nice.

I purchased the Hyperion extended battery cover and it fit perfectly over the Anker cover. I like the fit and feel of this cover a lot. Its slips on and off easily. Its texture allows for a better grip than the smooth plastic covers but its not so tacky as to be difficult to remove from your pocket.

According to the pictures on the product page, the Anker brand is included cover. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it arrived without such branding. One of the reviewers here complained about a blue tint when taking flash photography with this blue cover. I took several pictures with the OEM cover, the Anker cover alone, and the Anker cover with the Hyperion cover on it, and I did not notice any difference in tint.

Its a matter of personal preference, but the size and texture of the phone with extended battery with the Hyperion cover feels much better in my hand than the ultrathin factory case. That's a bonus because the primary purpose, obviously, is extended battery life.

I was researching the care of lithium ion batteries. The research at the link below was performed by the Center for Automotive Research at the Ohio State University in collaboration with Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the National Institute of Standards Technology.

One of the main points in that article is that avoiding full discharge of the battery is one way to extend the life of the battery. Table 2 shows that 100% discharge cycles lead to a life 300-500 full discharge cycles, but 50% depth of discharge (DoD) cycles leads to a life of 1200-1500 discharge cycles (which in terms of the amount of energy - mAh - delivered is equivalent to 600-750 full discharge cycles). So by using this extended battery, you not only reduce the likelihood of running out of power during the busy days, but you also reduce the depth of discharge cycles and therefore get about 50-100% more battery life. The study shows that 10% and 25% depth of discharge was not as good as 50% but would have liked to see the 75% and 90% depth of discharge data as those would be more practical options. That is noone is going to regularly recharge battery at 90% charge or even 75% charge. It would be useful to know whether to recharge at 50% or would recharging at 25% charge or 10% charge be even better.

Better then expected results and durability.

I'm reviewing the Anker 5200 mah battery and rear cover for the Galaxy S4 on a Canadian Galaxy S4. I have the blue rear cover that matches my blue phone perfect. This product review took a few unexpected turns as I will point out.

First item, after MANY years of buying Anker products because I've loved their quality, I was offered to test and review this battery for free. This will not influence my positives and criticisms of the product!

Shipping of the product was very quick. The turn around time from confirmation of shipping to actually receiving the product was 3 days. Very pleasing considering that my stock battery lasted just over half a day. I was eager to get this battery.

Packaging and unboxing is above what I've seen from other products. The kit comes in a nice package, not some cheap cardboard box with stuff rattling inside. This is a nice clear plastic package with the warranty info, instructions, the battery and rear cover. Packaging you would expect of a higher quality retail product.

The battery is obviously bigger but not anything unexpected from a double capacity battery. The rear cover material felt sturdy but I was nervous of its durability. That was put to rest a couple of times and finally today absolute.
The battery fits perfect in the phone, secure. The rear cover snaps on nice and tight with no creaking or looseness. A couple of very smart additions to the rear cover have been added. A port extending to the speaker inside the back makes sound as good as stock. Bass actually seems a little improved but that's negligible. A small bump on the outside of the rear cover located at the speaker may help lift the phone slight enough so when laid flat the speaker is not completely covered. Two small but great additions that show some proper engineering was involved.

The slightly increased thickness of the phone actually greatly increases comfort and I personally prefer the shape to stock since it fits the hand naturally.

Performance. I received the battery at 57% charge. I did a nasty thing and ran it from 57% charge to empty without charging it first out of the box and it lasted longer then the stock battery when fully charged. (Follow the proper instructions and charge properly) So then I did the full charge. I was blown away. I expected double the life but I've been getting easily better then double. So I decided to turn all the features on. Still over double the stock battery. A very interesting outcome indeed.
So I performed another charge and now I've overclocked the phone to 2.2 Ghz from 1.9 Ghz, plus some other go fast CPU tricks. A real battery killer setup I will admit.
Results are two full days of use and counting on one charge. Again overclocked and heavy use. How is 35+ hours and 11+ hrs screen on and I still have 25%. Message me for screen shots if desired.

Oh and the rear cover durability. I've dropped my phone 4 times this week alone, twice on concrete. Four foot+ drops and the rear cover just today has developed a small crack. To be fair, the phone bezel had gotten chipped and the edge of the screen is now damaged but the Anker rear cover just snapped right back into place and still fits like brand new. The tiny crack is not even noticeable.

Would I recommend this. Definitely. I have been recommending, for many years, Anker products because they perform EXCELLENT.

Again I've been buying Anker for years before this review and the reason is because I've never had better quality from other products.
