It took me forever to find a charger that charged my phone without removing the case. I have a hard snap on case, and it really is not feasible to remove it every night to charge the phone. This one holds my phone securely, and has enough room for my case! I am seriously thinking of ordering an additional one for the office.

I ordered this version because of reviews stating the all plastic version was too light weight. This aluminum version is great. I have this on my nightstand and now use my phone as my alarm clock. The weight of this stand ,akes it very stable even with the phone standing upright. I also have a case on my phone (Pandamimi Shell Holster Combo Case, also purchased through Amazon) and do not have to remove it for the phone to connect firmly on the micro usb plug. I also like the fact that the supplied cord is longer that most. The cord is designed for this product and a standard micro usb cable probably won't work, without modifying the stand. But why would you want to? The only thing you need to add to this to make it complete is the power adapter that came with you phone.
Would I recommend this item to friends and family? Absolutely. Is it just for the Galaxy S III? No. It can be used with any phone or mp3 player that uses a micro usb plug to charge and sync. Would I buy it again? Yes. And just might... It would make a great gift.

I have mixed feelings about this product, which I purchased for use with a Samsung Galaxy phone. On the one hand, the stand has a very distinctive, very appealing look, is a good size, and is very stable. On the other hand, the stand really appears to have been an iPhone accessory converted into one for phones that use a more standard USB interface. (The included plug is shaped like an iPhone or iPod cable except with a USB connection rather than the Apple one). I found that the included cable didn't dock well at all with my phone regardless of whether I had the phone in an extremely thin case I own or out of the case. I had to use a different cable that I already owned and then jerry-rig the stand to get the charging connection to fit properly. That said, it is working now. (Incidentally, I think the product looks best when your place the phone on it in landscape view.) Lastly, I found that the corners of the stand dig into the desk when you apply any pressure to it (like connecting the phone and charger) and started to scratch the surface of the desk, though I solved that problem by placing the item on an extra plain black drink coaster.
