5Three For One... sort of.

By C. Magrabi

First off, if you have big arms then you may want to reconsider this. I have some decent-sized biceps and it barely fits (I find it's more comfy and kind of cool to wear like a bracer) so if you have larger than most peoples biceps then you should probably stay clear of this.

Apple not giving us a release date for the iPod 5th Gen. when it was first announced hurt the buyers in more ways than one. One such way is that, I suspect, the companies that would make cases for us had no idea what day to expect to need them out by. On Amazon you'll see cases that are either really suspicious (they have an iPod 4th Gen with photoshopped 5th Gen features on them), cases that look pretty good but have next to zero reviews, or you'll find a case that looks amazing and the company has a fantastic reputation but the product won't be released for another few weeks. People like me who love their fancy gadgets to be protected by a highly reviewed product begin to have to compromise on how many reviews they'd want to see it have. In this case, there were only a couple, but I'm glad I took the risk.

Anyway, here's the review of the three parts that are being sold:

1) The Screen Protector: Throw it away, it's complete garbage. No matter how much my wife or I tried, and we've both put on screen protectors successfully before, we could not get it to not have bubbles. I don't mean one or two bubbles that could be ignored, I mean all over the screen and some huge bubbles. As I wasn't expecting much from this, I wasn't too upset, but it was disappointing.

2)The Silicone Case: It's nice! It's actually a really good case! To be honest, it's not some cheap and thin piece of garbage, which is what I was expecting (especially after how horrible the screen protector was). It can function as a case by itself quite nicely. It has two slots in the back to pass the armband through, a hole for the wrist strap attachment, and a good-sized hole for the back camera. Unfortunately it as a con, the front camera is blocked, there's no hole for it. The buttons are easy to press with it - the little bumps on the case actually make it feel more firm and are easier to push than some other cases I owned for the iPod 4th Gen. It's simple, with no designs or brand names on it.

3) The Armband: As I said before, it's a bit snug for my bicep and I'm sure guys that can bench-press more than I probably shouldn't get it. However, it seems pretty sturdy, though the case does go at angles sometimes, and hasn't fallen off yet. Further use has caused me to use it as more of a bracer-type of thing, or a high (and large) watch. In a way this makes it, to me, a bit cooler and more useful because 1) I can see the iPod better on my forearm 2) it's high enough not to get in my way 3) I can actually use it in this position and 4) I'm a bit of a nerd and it makes me feel almost like I have a computer on my arm. Anyway, it's intended for the bicep and not the forearm, so if you want it only for the bicep then only get it if you don't have bigger than average biceps.

I'm taking a star off because:
1) The "bonus screen protector." Take the word Bonus and swap the "N" for a "G" and it'll be more accurate.
2) The missing hole for where the front-facing camera
3) The strap could be better.

However, the pros of this great case very much outweigh the cons and I do recommend this as it seems like the best one I've tried so far (including those I for the 4th Gen), and for the price (currently $15) it's a pretty great deal.

Update: 1 Week

Okay, here's my one-week update. I've been unable to wear it comfortably on my bicep, but it rests pretty nicely on my forearm. I actually really like this position because I watch a lot of TV Shows/Movies while exercising or walking around, and when it's like this I can quickly access it if I need to change the movies or whatever. Plus, since it's on my forearm I can actually watch it here and there. However, it is a shame that I can't wear it on my bicep.

Also, the armband made some popping noises in the first few days but hasn't done so since then (about 3-4 days) and is still sturdy. I was nervous, but since I haven't heard the sounds since then and it still looks great I suspect that I must have been stretching it and now it's at the right size for my arm.

After one week of having and using this, I can say that I truly do like it and do recommend it.

Update: 1 Month Later

I noticed on another review on this product that the person also didn't have the port for a front-facing camer, had contacted i-Blason about it, and had gotten a replacement for free. Well, I did the same and can vouch that they do say they now have a port there and will ship it to you for free. I haven't gotten it yet, but the impressive customer service makes this product fully worth five stars now!
Also, the product is still holding up very well in spite of me wearing it almost daily.

5best running case I've ever had

By p. francisco

This is the best running case I've ever had, and I've had quite a few. Over the last 4 years, I've trained for 2-4 races a year, mostly 5ks, but also a marathon, a half marathon, and my PT test. In short, I run or walk anywhere between 3 and 10 miles a day, or 15 and 40 miles a week. This case fits the iPhone 5 well, the velcro strap is comfortable (not rough like some others that have caused chafing), the whole thing is unobtrusive, and it's easy to access the screen. I use it in conjunction with bluetooth headphones, so I can't speak to how headphone cords may work with it. Also, I put it back in my regular case when I'm not running. I don't think it's protective enough to function as a regular case because I'm not as careful with my phone as most people are. I just know myself. But I get the impression that with this case, a drop from about waist height onto a wooden floor wouldn't damage the phone. Anyway, it's a great case at a great price.

3does the job

By Lysadies

This armband does the job.it is flexible enough that I can fit my phone with its slim case on. However I don't like that it has a hole for the camera. the camera lays against my arm while I'm running, and the hole allows for sweat to get inside where the cameras. I'm concerned that it will cause water damage. I think I'll turn the phone upside down going forward. I'm sure some people prefer to have their camera available, but to me it doesn't make sense because it's strapped to my arm and I am running.
