Disappointed

Belkin Slim-Fit Armband for Samsung Galaxy S4 / B00BE6BNSM
Ah, man, I really wanted to like this, but it's not quite my cup of tea.
This is a nice, high quality armband. The velcro is a good quality and I can tell it will last over time. The neoprene works really well with the concept -- it fits snugly on the arm without slipping or chafing. The clear screen lets you use your phone without getting a bunch of ghost touches like some of the cheaper cases on the market. For this concept, which is sound, these are probably the best materials to use.
But! The fit for the phone is *so* snug that you have to remove any covers you already use (even the really slim rubber-grip ones), and even then it feels like you're having to coax the phone in and out of the case. I appreciate that they didn't want it bouncing around on your arm while you run, but it becomes a major chore to use -- you can't just slam your phone in and go.
Second, once you put your phone in, the volume and power buttons become basically inaccessible: you can try to press through the plastic and neoprene, but it doesn't connect well. Again, they probably didn't think you'd be using your phone THAT much while running, but you still have to adjust the volume sometimes. (And, really, what is the point of the clear screen for operating the phone if you can't turn the phone-screen on after it times out.) You could, of course, set the phone screen to not fall asleep, but that would drain the battery and there's still always the possibility of a ghost touch while running.
One thing I do like about this, and it might make it worth all the trouble, is that when I had my phone in the case and situated on the arm, my bluetooth connection didn't break or stutter like it sometimes does in my pocket while exercising. As that's a major point in its favor, if you're willing to wrestle the phone into this case and not adjust it much once it's in there, this might be ideal for you -- it's going to depend on your use case.

When They Say Slim Fit, They Mean Slim Fit!

Wow. Definitely not what I was expecting with Belkin, but let me say this is one extremely slim armband! The whole armband is pretty much made out of soft neoprene material that extends from the actual armband that goes around your bicep to the back of the case that holds your cell. With such a large cell phone, I was imagining a lot bigger/hard plastic backing, but that's not the case. Instead the back of the area that holds your cell phone is, again, soft neoprene, and has a slip cover type opening, which means the top portion lays on top of the bottom portion of the material. You have to pull the top up to slip your phone in, and then lay it back down. The only opening on the case is a small hole at the top where your earbuds plug in at. The screen protector is made out of a thin plastic that seems very durable. And the feature I actually love the most...a small pink rubber band that is attached to the armband itself. This little cool feature is for your earbud wire. I don't know about anyone else, but I always manage to get tangled up in my earbud cords while running, and finally I just pull the cord through my sleeve in my workout shirt, and up through the neck opening. Affective, but not really comfy. But on the Belkin armband I'm able to wrap my earbuds around the rubber band, and happily it does not unwind! That's cause for celebration right there. Now trying to insert my cell phone (sans case as there is NO way you could possibly fit the Samsung Galaxy S4 in the Belkin armband with a case on) was a trying task. Simply because there isn't much room, which is great in one aspect that I'll have no fear of my cell coming out of the armband, but I felt like I was trying to suffocate it as I tried jamming it in there. And getting it out was even harder. Perhaps after a few uses it'll stretch a little, but for right now it is a very tight fit.
Now for the fun part...running with the Belkin armband! I actually went into this with trepidation as I had a massive fear that it would either come loose, not fit my tiny arm **flexing miniscule muscle as I write,** or it wouldn't be totally user friendly in the case. But what I found was that not only did it fit my little arm fine, it also was incredibly sturdy. I ran for a good two miles, and it didn't slip or try to slide down my arm at all, and that's pretty impressive considering the size of the Samsung GS4. I used Pandora, and had no trouble trying to change the station through the plastic material, but it is a bit difficult getting to the power button on the side to click it on. I prefer leaving it on my music and not bugging with it. I also use earbuds that have a remote on them for increasing/decreasing my volume, so I didn't mess around with the buttons on my cell too much while in the case and running. The Belkin armband did its job to a T, and I definitely recommend it!

First observation: if your phone is near to the S4 form-factor, this will work for you. Actually, you'd be better off if your phone is a tad smaller than an S4.
Second observation: if you have your phone in a case, you are not going to quickly pop your S4 in and out of the armband. Even without a case, the armband is a snug, snug fit. This is good and matches what the product is designed for, but you might find yourself wishing you could just leave the phone in the armband.
Third observation: remarkably, to me, the touch screen worked just fine through the band.
Fourth observation: side function keys are hard to press when you've got the phone in the band.
Fifth observation: it may be flabby-arms, but I have trouble getting this around my upper arm. I'm not really interested in using it as a forearm mount, but wanted the phone up and out of the way.
In all, this is better than trying to hold the phone and jog, but not much better. I'm still looking for a good solution for that.
